Emily Haas, Program Director

Emily first began working with at-risk youth in 1992 as a PASS Volunteer in Martinsburg, WV. She graduated from Shepherd College in 1997 with a B.S. in Sociology. Shortly after graduation Emily moved to Dallas, Texas and began working as a Campus Manager for Communities In Schools Dallas. In 2001 Emily returned to West Virginia where she served as the Bereavement Coordinator for Greenbrier Valley Hospice and then as an Employment Facilitator for Open Doors Inc. In 2002 Emily began working towards the development of a local Communities In Schools affiliate. CISGC was created in January 2003 and began providing services to students in August 2004.

Emily also contributes her dedication and enthusiasm for youth to the West Virginia 4-H program. In 1982 Emily began her career as a 4-H’er. She has continued her involvement with 4-H for over 20 years and looks forward to giving back to the youth of West Virginia throughout her lifetime. Emily served on the Governor’s Elect Transition Team in 2004 and currently sits on the Citizens Committee for the Governors Cabinet on Children and Families. She also serves on the West Virginia PASS/CIS Advisory Committee through the West Virginia Department of Education and the Arts. Emily and her husband Bob have two daughters, Maggie and Lydia.

  Julie Coughlin, Case Manager

Julie is a Greenbrier County native who began working for CISGC in October 2006.

From assisting with Girl Scoutsof America to local Vacation Bible School programs, Julie is dedicated to improving the lives of children and has played an active role in her community for many years. Julie returned to college, after ten years, to complete her bachelor's degree and graduated from Bluefield State College in 2003 with a B.A. in Humanities. She began substitute teaching shortly thereafter. This is Julie's second year providing services to GWHS and WGMS. Julie resides in Rupert, WV with her husband and two daughters.

  Megan Squier, Community Youth Specialist

Megan began her career in community service while attending the University of Delaware and working with youth at the local YMCA. She graduated in 1981 with a B.A. in Education and moved to West Virginia in 1984. Megan worked at Seneca Health Services for seven years, providing case management services to adults and youth with developmental disabilities. She continued this work at Open Doors Inc., advocating for full community inclusion of people with disabilities. Megan expanded her skills as an advocate for social justice in May 2005 when she recieved a Masters Degree in Conflict Transformation form Eastern Mennonite University. Megan's work with CIS is directed towards developing an after school programming for at-risk youth. Meg enjoys building and training teams and is skilled in graphic facilitation and futures planning. Megan and her partner Larry are the proud of a blended family of six daughters and one son.

Kristi Broyles, Case Manager

Kristi is a Greenbrier County native who began working with CISGC in August of 2008. She is a graduate of West Virginia University earning her B.S. in Child Development and Family Studies. Kristi has been working with youth since 2002 and is enthusiastic about coming back to her hometown and giving back to her community. AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service program that is designed specifically to fight poverty. VISTA's serve to help fight poverty, improve poor health services, and strengthen community groups. Kristi enjoys daily interaction with youth and is eager to make a difference. Kristi works at Eastern Greenbrier Middle School and Greenbrier East High School.

 Sheila Tygrett, Case Manager

Sheila Tygrett, long time resident of Rupert joined CIS last month through a collaborative effort with Monroe County Board of Education (AmeriCorps VISTA Community of Champrions). Sheila is a mother of two boys and has been married for seventeen years. She has been active volunteer for many years at Rupert Elementary School and is a member of the LSIC. Upon completion of her term with CIS, Sheila plans to pursue a degree in social work. Sheila works at Western Greenbrier Middle School on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
